Chairman¡¯s greeting

Welcome to the 7th International Scientific Acupuncture and Meridian Symposium (iSMAS)!

I am very pleased with holding our international symposium the first time in abroad to share the latest research in the field of acupuncture and meridian studies in the Beckman Center, UC Irvine this year.

iSAMS had been held in various cities in Korea since 2005, and today it has been developed varying locations in the world from continent to continent; UC Irvine in 2011, University of Technical Science in Sydney, Australia in 2012, and Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden in 2013. iSAMS has been the platform to provide the latest advances of not only basic but clinical areas on  Traditional Oriental Medicine throughout years.

Our symposium is co-hosted by Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute and Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine in UC Irvine under the theme of ¡°Research in Acupuncture and Oriental Herbal Medicine: Modernization of Ancient Therapy.¡± I think the title of iSAMS 2011 is closely related to the goal of KPI and Traditional Oriental Medicine. For this reason, our symposium is pretty much meaningful in the field.

I believe that iSAMS 2011 has the numerous great speakers more than any other conferences in the TOM field. I would like to give my best appreciation to our honorable invited speakers, researchers, and all the presenters from Korea, the United States and abroad.

I sincerely hope that this symposium can help you to fulfill your academic needs and enthusiasm so that you achieve a great success.

Once again I would like to welcome every attendee from around the world.

Thank you.

Tae Han Yook

Co-Chair of iSAMS 2011
